Freedom beneath palm trees: What’s Goa really like (Nr. 59)

India Part 4: Tales from Goa between Arambol and Patnem

Our journey takes us further and further into the mountains of Himachal Pradesh to the remote Tirthan Valley and the backpacker-hangout Manali, where we make a spontaneous decision: We’re going to visit the mysterious Ladakh, a Mini-Tibet in the furthest north of India. Monks in dark red robes murmur mantras to themselves in spectacular monasteries and we are right in the middle of it all, heading out into the wilderness for three days on a hike.

Delhi: Looking for the famous Culture Shock in India (56)

India Part 1: Exploring the different sides of Delhi in our first week in India

Nearly 33 million people live in Delhi between medieval buildings, hectic bazaars, modern office buildings and poor neighborhoods. Delhi is chaos and sensory overload and definitely not the ideal introduction to a trip to India. Moving through Old Delhi requires either a deeper inner calm, nerves of steel, or at least earplugs. It’s dirty, noisy, hectic, and the opposite of relaxing, and most people would probably escape as soon as possible, but we’re right in the middle of it, smiling contently.
