We spend a few days in Osh and during this time we apply for a special permit at the tourism office in Bishkek to cross the border into Tajikistan. After a few days in the city, we want to explore the interesting surroundings and decide for a weekend trip to Uzbekistan, because the border is only 20 minutes away from the city.

Central Asia Part 3: From Kochkor over the Song-Kul to Osh
We cycle along yurts, summer pastures and large herds of animals, everywhere we see cows, sheep and especially horses. Herds of hundreds grazing horses as far as the eyes can see. Dario grins at me and says “a truly shitty place”. While we were climbing up the pass to the picturesque mountain lake Song-Kul, trucks loaded with animals passed us on the way to the summer pastures.

Central Asia Part 2: From the Kyrgyz border along the Issyk-Kul to Kochkor

After our first impressions of Central Asia in Kazakhstan, we couldn’t wait to get to know the beautiful scenery and lovely peculiarities of the other Central Asian countries. Next on the agenda was Kyrgyzstan, where we end up on a very bad gravel road as soon as we crossed the Karkara border. It’s supposed to be the main road into the country, but it doesn’t look like it and there’s no trace of asphalt coming anytime soon.
